Say mailing refund when was supposed to be direct deposits

I agree with you. I think for as much as everyone paid to
file we should have gotten some kind of explanation as to why this has happened instead of having everyone panic and wonder what’s going on.

I came here looking for answers. I just want to chime in that the same thing happened to us. We've used the same account with DD many years with no problem. Returns always over 10,000. Now we are waiting for our return via mail!

I just checked the IRS to go. It says it was mailed. WTH! We got the same message stating it would be mailed instead of DD by the 1st of March.  I am so glad to hear it isnt just us, but want to know what the heck is going on. To send all these checks out is super expensive, and according to the website, if they change your refund status they were supposed to inform you. We sure didnt get informed. I was told it was a glitch, but starting to think it will really be a paper check and we are all screwed cause it will take who knows how long to get it! Ugh!!!

I checked as well and it’s very infuriating! I got on their Facebook page yesterday and a lot of people are blowing up about problems they have had with turbo tax this year. I got a tip to check the Santa Barbara Bank site just to see if it really was an error. I guess this is the bank where the refunds are sent before they go into everyones personal banks(correct me if I’m wrong) but when I entered the information it brought up a message saying they have not received funds. That’s when I definitely knew this was not a glitch and they were really sending it in the mail. It makes me very uncomfortable that all these checks are out in the mail. Our postal service where we live (out in the middle of no where in PA) is awful things get lost all the time.

good morning all, checked my WMR and it states mailed. reading through other intuit forums and found that the usps has a feature to track INCOMING mail! called informed delivery, (Informed Delivery® is a free and optional notification feature that gives residential consumers the ability to digitally preview their letter-sized mail and manage their packages scheduled to arrive soon.) i had never heard of this feature before , but i signed up. I also read that it should be about 3-5 business days for check delivery and that it comes first class usps (no tracking #). So i felt this was my best option to be informed of my refund. Just wanted to share my discovery, hoping it helps others!

Yeah I just learned about the Informed Delivery this past week. I have found that it usually updates between 7-8 am est fairly regularly. I love this feature as it allows me to plan my day better when I am expecting mail!

Same thing here too...Says: Your refund was mailed on March 1, 2019. If you do not receive your refund, please wait until March 29, 2019 to contact us as we are unable to take any further action until then.

So...not to mention the wait for the paper check....but when you do deposit...banks wait to release funds when amts are large....so you are going to wait even longer.

Sorry TT...if this is your doing, I am done with you after 10 years...

Wlrogalski - Not calling you out on this but it’s not Turbotax’s fault. The IRS is doing this for any amounts above 10k. A friend of mine is also going thru the same issue. Second, banks can’t place a hold on government issued checks. At most funds must be available by the next business day.

I’m wondering if the postal service is delivering tax refunds on Sunday.  I got an informed delivery alert today on a piece of mail that they didn’t have an image from. Hmmmm...

Never been a limit in the past...why now?  I don't believe that...something went wrong somewhere

It could be a new fraud protection measure since the IRS has been dealing with fraudulent returns.
