I filed my Mom's 2020 Taxes on March 2, 2021. I have confirmation that they were accepted by IRS. Each time I checked Where is my Refund, they said they had received the tax return and were processing. The last time I checked was 12/24/2021at which time I was informed that their system was down for maintenance until 1/3/2022. I checked today, and they said they cannot provide any information about the refund and be sure to check the filing date, check with the software provider or verify that I received the electronically filed acknowledgement e-mail. What is the best way to proceed with this. It appears that during their maintenance the file was lost.

If it said it was processing before then they still have it. The IRS Where's my refund page Doesn't always work right. Returns can disappear from it. And I think now it has switched over to 2021 returns.
The IRS is taking a lot longer to process and send 2020 refunds. Like over 6 months. Just keep waiting.
Thanks for responding. My Mom passed in Feb of 2021 and I need to file her 2021 final taxes. Not sure whether I should proceed or not
First don't be in a rush to file ... make sure you have everything you need to complete the return and second you can file it anytime however the return will have to be mailed and it will take several months to process.
