refund more than expected

IRS asked me to send proof that I paid the amount of tax I entered on my return. I sent the proof and about 8 weeks later I received my refund but it was more than filed on my return. I have received no explanation. How do I find out why they changed the refund?

How much more? It could be interest on your refund. The IRS has been paying interest.

6/100 of 1 percent more. I filed as soon as the IRS was accepting e-file returns and received the refund on 7/8/2021.
