refund delayed.

I received a letter from the IRS saying they can't approve my refund. I had to fax all of my forms showing wages and withholding's to them. I have used Turbo Tax for 10 years and never had a problem. The code was 12c. Am I being audited?

No, it is not an audit. The IRS will send you Letter 12C because they need more information to process your individual income tax return. This information can include missing forms or schedules to support your entries on Form 1040 or Form 1040-SR. It simply means they need more information from you to verify the information you sent in on your tax return.

Yes, they requested all forms showing wages and withholding's. There were included in my 1040 SR return. Maybe they just want to see physical proof. Anyway, it is causing at least a 6–8-week delay.

You can monitor when they release the refund on the Where's My Refund tool here. If you need further information on it, you can also contact them here. @LR1954
