Why? You need to post some more details. Or did the IRS send you less than you were expecting?
I was expecting $1517 but it came @$246 short. On the IRS site it says $1517. Also I paid all fees upfront using the refund amount
What do you mean you paid the fees using the refund? Then it goes through the 3rd party bank to take the fees out PLUS the Extra $40 Refund Processing Service charge (45 in California) .
When your submitting your refund it asks would you like to pay the fees using your refund or upfront. I selected refund which resulted in the amount of $1517 being sent to me but I got close to $300 less than that. Does this make sense? I am wondering where the extra charge came from? Because on the IRS site it says $1517 .
The IRS doesn't know how you are paying the fees. They send the full amount before the fees are taken out. $1,517 is your refund before before fees. Then it goes through the 3rd party bank to take the fees out plus the Extra $40 Refund Processing Service charge (45 in California). Check your 1040 return line 35a for your full refund (before fees).
How to review your fees
No one can see your screen or your tax return. We do not know if you mean you think the refund you are seeing on your tax form is wrong if you mean the IRS did not send you the amount you expected for your refund. Please give us some details.
Ok in that box it says $1517. The fees were $167 total. And I received $1271.
See details above. I am talking about the refund amount.
Was that whole amount your federal refund, or the combined amount of your federal and state refunds? They come separately, at different times. And..did you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund? If so, remember that there is an extra "refund processing" fee of $39.99 ($44.99 in CA) to have your refund go to the third party bank that takes out your fees and sends the rest of the refund to you.
Or.....if the IRS reduced your refund for some reason, they will send you a letter in several weeks to explain why they reduced it----TurboTax does not get any information from the IRS when they reduce your refund.
