My daughter was born in 2020. We already filed for our taxes and added her in and clicked that she lived with us the whole year and she did not support herself on her own. Apparently we were suppose to write down we didn’t get the 3 stimulus checks for our daughter and we were suppose to claim that on our taxes. We already filed and got our refund and now we see we missed a step. What do we do to get the recovery rebate?

You do not apply for Stimulus #3 as a Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2020 tax return.  The IRS is sending these out automatically, based on your most recent tax filing.  It will take them a few weeks to get all the batches out.  You can check the status here:

Nothing is to be entered on your 2020 tax return about the $1400 3rd stimulus check.  That is completely separate from your 2020 tax return.   You were supposed to enter your child as a dependent--which it seems that you did, and then use the recovery rebate credit section to show how much you did actually receive---the amount for the adults or other children (if any).....and the amount for your baby should have shown up on line 30 of your Form 1040.  Look at your Form 1040---is there an amount there?    You could have received up to $1100 for her.

If nothing is on line 30 for your new child then you can amend and this time use the recovery rebate section in Federal Review.   All you enter there is what you DID receive---not what you did not receive.

Ok so there’s nothing else we need to do. We claimed her on our taxes and only wrote down what we received. So then we’ll get the money for our daughter soon?

Not sure how soon the IRS will add the stimulus and send it to you for your baby---but there is nothing else for you to do for it.

TurboTax cannot track your 3rd stimulus or tell you when it will arrive.  The IRS is issuing 3rd stimulus checks on its own timetable.

Okay so we got our third stimulus check but haven’t received any of the 3 stimulus for our daughter. Does that come later since we just claimed her on these taxes last month? Thank you! Trying to figure this out and what I need to do.
