Recovery rebate question.

Hello,

[Scenerio: Married filing jointly where one has SSN, other has ITIN + one 3 year old child. AGIT for 2019 was $30,131]

I recently efiled my federal return, and I claimed for $2900 as recovery credit, as suggested by turbotax. However, I see that I am eligible for both 1st and 2nd stimulus payment. I assume that the $2900 I claimed has following breakdown: 2400 for couple + 500 for child.

If this is true, how can I claim the 2nd stimulus payment for my family? What would be the process? Thanks a lot.

Recovery rebate question.

Thank you. It is actually calculated as follows: 1200 (one spouse/1st stm) + 500 (child/1st stm) + 600 (one spouse/2nd stm) + 600 (child/2nd stm). Previously I was thinking it is: 1200 (one spouse with SSN/1st stm) + 1200 (other spouse with ITIN/1st stm) + 500 (child/1st stm) - which is incorrect.

Recovery rebate question.

When you completed your 2020 tax return, you should have listed the stimulus payments that you received already, and the balance due you would be automatically calculated based on your entries on the tax return. So, all you needed to do was enter how much you have received for the two stimulus payments, and the rest will be included with your refund automatically.

Recovery rebate question.

The first scenario is correct, so the total is $2,900 that you are entitled to. You have to have a social security number to qualify for a stimulus payment.
