I have to submit an amended return. Do I have to re-submit the entire return, or just the parts that have changed? My entire return is about 70 pages long!

If you want to make changes or add a document to a tax return that has already been submitted, you should follow these guidelines. You will be instructed on what you need to include.
Select your product below and follow the instructions.
how to file:
Do not include your old 1040 nor your revised 1040 because the Form 1040-X reflects any changes there and becomes your new tax return.
Include any new/corrected document only if it shows federal tax withheld, and include in order only those Sequence Numbered tax forms and Schedules that changed or were added due to your amendment.
Attachment Sequence Number is on all the forms and Schedules that come after 1040.
If you are using TurboTax you have to do this by visual comparison. The program won't break out those pages for you.
---
If any forms specify an attachment, put all those attachments at the end in the same order as the forms they go with.
---
Mail to the address shown for your location in the most recent Instructions for Form 1040-X.
Sorry, but I'm finding this a little confusing.
If I understand correctly...
1. I do not submit the entire return.
2. I submit the forms that show any revisions (only). In my case, this might be only about three forms. I will try to list the appropriate sequence number, although I am a little hazy about that.
2A. I am replacing the 1040 and the schedule D, so that should be straightforward
2B. I am adding a form that I did not submit with the original filing, so I should sequence it based on where it would occur if it had been part of the original filing? (I am unclear about this)
3. Turbotax shows me an address to use for submission, and I will use that (my original return was submitted electronically, but I cannot do that for an amended return).
If someone could respond to these points, I would appreciate it!
Thanks,
Andy
