print this and return button will not open

Turbotax desktop software up to date and ran as administrator but the "print this and return" button doesn't work at all. I turned off all firewall and antivirus protection and the button still will not open the required pdf. I have uninstalled adobe and my turbotax software. Restarted my computer. Reinstalled adobe and turbotax and the file will not open. I have saved as pdf and attempted to open and print and it will not open as it keep saying there is a problem with the pdf. This is EXTREMELY frustrating. I've looked through all forms. I've saved all forms as pdf and attempted to search for "print this" and also, "mail in" nothing comes up. What is the missing pdf form about? Why is it not in my complete all forms turbotax pdf? Why do all of my other turbotax pdfs open but not this one? Turbotax will most definitely not be getting my money next year.

Here is a technique that might work.

If the file is saved in pdf format, instead of left clicking to open it, right click and open it with your browser. If it comes up, hit Cntrl P and if successful, you will see the preview on the left side with all the pages with the data. If it's good, you can print it out.

I tried opening the pdf in Opera, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. None would open it. I keep getting errors or invalid file responses. Hitting ctrl and P didn't get me anything but a black page with an error message on it.

I tried opening it in Adobe, Pdf gear and Sedja. None would open it.

I tried to open after signing in as admin with all antivirus and firewalls turned off. It still will not open.

Thank you for your help, but nothing works.

No response from technical issues department as of yet. Searching through old messages in the community shows they've had this issue for at least 8 years and still have not fixed it. It is well known to them. I'm not paying again for another software because my taxes have been accepted. The IRS obviously needs this form, but I can't open it to be able to send it to them. Turbotax is responsible for this error and they need to fix it immediately.

Do you get an error message when you try to open your PDF?  Make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Reader.

Here are the primary reasons and solutions for PDF files not opening:

  • Corrupted or Incomplete File: The file may not have downloaded completely, or it was damaged during transfer. Try re-downloading or requesting the file again.
  • Outdated or Damaged PDF Reader: An outdated viewer (e.g., Adobe Acrobat Reader) can prevent files from opening. Update your reader software or reinstall it.
  • Incorrect Default App Association: Your computer might be trying to open the PDF with the wrong application. Right-click the file, choose "Open With," and select your primary PDF viewer.
  • Browser Settings (If opening online): Browser extensions or security settings may block PDF viewing. Try opening the PDF in a different browser, clearing the cache, or using a specialized viewer.
  • File Protection/Security Settings: If the PDF is encrypted, password-protected, or flagged as suspicious by security software, it may not open.
  • Run as Administrator (Windows): Sometimes, restricted user permissions prevent Adobe from opening. Try launching Acrobat as an administrator.
