If you e-filed your return, you won't be able to change it. It's like putting a letter in the mailbox. You can't retrieve it.
- You'll have to wait until the IRS accepts or rejects your return.
If your return gets rejected, you'll be able to change your return and submit the corrected return.
If by interest paid you mean mortgage interest paid:
- With your return open, search for 1098 and select the Jump to link in the search results.
- On the Your 1098 info so far screen, select the 1098 you want to edit and click on Review.
- Continue with the onscreen interview to edit the amount.
If your return gets accepted and the taxes paid amount results in a change in your refund or amount due, you'll need to amend your income tax return. See How to amend (change or correct) a return you already filed?
