If I chose direct deposit for my federal refund, will my state refund be direct deposited too?

Yes.  If you selected Direct Deposit on your Federal Tax Return that information will be used for your State Tax Return.

Hope this helps.

TY. It seems like my state refund is taking longer than normal. I know Vermont had issues with fraudulent claims last year and installed new security measures, so maybe that's why...thanks again

DD does not show up on the printed form if you choose to print the state return for mailing.

For the last several years direct deposit information was not transferred to my state tax form.  I've had to go back into Info for State tax form and fill in, then save before filing.  I wish this could be corrected.

NO, TurboTax has a glitch which they repeatedly do not fix year after year.  Please see my comments to Doc's Answer ... in order to also have DirDep for State (at least on a CA return) follow the steps in my answer to Doc5108 (Intuit will not allow me to past my info in this form but I could as a comment to "Doc")

ONE POSSIBILITY which I don't use ... if you e-file state then you might also be prompted to verify DirDep for state.
WARNING - Even if you have DirDep set up from a prior year, DON'T ASSUME IT WILL WORK THIS YEAR.  While the Fed DirDep has transferred every year I can remember, my State DirDep info for some reason is NEVER transferred. So I have to use the steps listed to add it back every year.

Even if you enter your Dir Dep info and you see the Dir Dep for the Federal return, it is not set up on the state return.
• This has been a long term glitch

• I have complained about this issue for over TEN YEARS NOW:

ISSUE
• You enter Dir Dep info during Easy Step for your Federal return.
• You are never asked if you want Dir Dep for your State return.
• OR
• Even if you made certain in the prior year that your TurboTax file had the correct settings and information so a state refund was refunded by Dir Dep, the settings and info for the state return ARE NOT imported into your new tax year file for state even though they ARE for federal.
• ALSO
• In Easy Step there is NOTHING to allow you to specify you desire Dir Dep for your State return
• This assumes you have a legitimate refund (if you owe, there will be no Dir Dep)
• THE 1040 Info Worksheet settings for THE SAME INFO are ALWAYS imported into the new tax year file.
• The 540 Info Worksheet settings ARE NEVER imported. The choice to have the Dirdep is not imported AND the bank settings are not imported.
• DISCLOSURE I only fill out returns involved with California, it is possible, based on some other user comments I read, some states do not allow Dir Dep refunds under certain conditions.

SOLUTION
• Leave Easy Step temporarily. Click on View / Forms
• Scroll down until you see <State> and the second form should be Info Worksheet, Click it once and the form will open to your right.
• Scroll down to PART VII, click the Yes to elect DirDep of state refund, then enter the Institution, Check/Sav, Routing Number, and Accounting number.

If I chose direct deposit for my federal refund, will my state refund be direct deposited too?

I am filing electronically.  I elected Direct Deposit on my Federal return for my refund(s).  I checked the Info Worksheet under my State return and in Section VI (it says New! below the heading), it has the box marked "Yes" for  Use the Federal PINs in place of Form 8879-K, a form supplied by paid tax payers concerning the disposition of a refund or amount due.   (I am self-preparing, so Form 8879-K is not supposed to be required).

In the State Info Worksheet, Section VII for Direct Deposit, Debit Card, and Electronic Funds Withdrawal Information does NOT have the box checked for Direct Deposit, but it DOES give the name of the financial institution, has a box checked for account type, and gives the routing number and the account number.  The instruction sheet for the State return also indicates the routing number and the account number.  But, it also indicates that I am to sign and date Form 8879-K within 1 day of acceptance!  I checked Form 8879-K and it has the box checked for "I do not want direct deposit."  I also checked the State filing forms and there is NO Form 8879-K there, so it looks like it was not sent electronically.  I still remains a mystery to me as to how the state Revenue Department will know that direct deposit of the state refund is requested since nothing is indicated about that anywhere on the state return.

I could not transmit both the Federal return and the State return at the same time because there was a glitch in accessing TurboTaxAdvantage for the transmittal charge to my credit card.  Two days later I discovered that I could click on the link on the screen for placing a phone call to Turbo Tax so that they could request a State eFile certification number for me to type it in the required  field, after which the State return was filed successfully.  So, it remains to be seen as to whether this new provision in Section VI of the State Info Worksheet actually works to effect a Direct Deposit of a State refund.

When looking at the State Info Worksheet and clicking on the icon for the Help Center, it explains for Section VI that the Federal and State returns must be submitted together for the Federal PINs to be used in place of the Form 8879-K.  Since they were submitted two days apart due to a glitch in TurboTaxAdvantage, whereby the transmittal charge for the state return could not be effected at the same time the federal from was submitted electronically, it might happen that there will be no direct deposit of the state refund.

However, it looks like this new section VI in the State Info Worksheet is TurboTax's solution to the problem of effecting a direct deposit of a state refund, would that the transmittal of the state return be done together with the transmittal of the federal return.

If I chose direct deposit for my federal refund, will my state refund be direct deposited too?

Only if you elect to efile both the Federal and State return. The bank account number and routing number will be required for both filings. If you want to mail the state return instead of e-file, indicate that you will efile the state return, input the bank account and routing number, then go back and elect to NOT efile the state return and the DD info will be stored on the state form.

Thank you for your information and instructions. I agree, turbotax REALLY needs to fix this. It really is a PIA to catch and fix this issue BEFORE filing my return.
