My federal E-file was accepted and my federal refund was direct deposited. However, it was only 10% of what it should have been. What should I do? Do I contact the IRS?

I do not have any refund adjustments on record. I have checked line 35a to double check this error. IRS "track my refund" webpage reflects the erroneous direct deposit. I am unsure how my line 35a does not reflect the refund I should receive. How is my Federal e-file $540.00 and my direct deposit was only $53.00? Any help from the TurboTax community is appreciated, and I thank you for your time!

IRS Track my Refund uses the amount of the refund shown on the return, whether that amount is correct or not.  It is not unusual for the IRS to adjust refunds.  It could be any one of a number of reasons.

It could be the result of a tax offset.  If you owe federal or state income taxes your refund will be offset to pay those taxes. If you had other debt such as child support or student loan debt that was submitted for offset, FMS will take as much of your refund as is needed to pay off the debt, and send it to the agency authorized to collect the debt. Any portion of your refund remaining after an offset will be refunded to you.

It could  be due to an error or omission (e.g. a 1099 that wasn't reported) on your tax return.  Whatever the reason, the IRS will send you a letter with an explanation.  You could try and call them, but it's very difficult to get through to them lately.
