Mac OS required for 2022 version of TT

TT notified after efile of taxes that I would require Mac OS Big Sur for 2022 TT version. I recently updated to Catalina 10.15. I use:

• MacBook Air 13in. early 2015
• OS Catalina 10.15.7
• Serial # C02S4539H3Q

Need to know if update to BIG Sur possible

• I Use Excel version 16.59 Home & Business 2021. 
• Do not use any other MS app
• Use Pages

This not only a product question

What precautions required for successful update.

I have contacted Apple Support. Soon will perform the upgrade to OS Big Sur after backup verification.

Turbo Tax has just lost another customer.  My old Macbook Pro can't be upgrader any further.

If 2021 TT can run on OS X Catalina, why can't the 2022 version of TT?

TT is running a lot of customers away because of their Mac OS requirements!!!!!

I'm sure there is tax software "out there" that will allow me to run Catalina next year.

Yes, incredibly stupid for Intuit to do this.  Everyday they sound more and more like those dumbells over at Microsoft writing operating systems bound to a particular vintage of CPU.

I have used TT since 2003 and am getting very frustrated with the Mac OSX upgrades that are required each year.  My 27" iMac is not capable of running anything higher than High Sierra.

My wife's 27" iMac can run Mohave and I do have a laptop that has Big Sur, but it is such a small screen to work on. 

My question is why TT has this requirement.  Is it the same for Windows?  I can run Windows on my iMac.

It seems that Intuit should be able modify the software yo be more universal.  Apple has many programs that run the same across many OSX versions.  Microsoft Office seems to run across a variety of Mac OSX versions with no problems.

I plan to look for other software to do my taxes this year.  Intuit needs to consult with Apple to figure this out or I think you will lose a lot of customers.

I suspect it's primarily to limit the number of test cases they have to evaluate, rather than actual root software changes.  

Just wish they'd be more forthcoming (honest).  Ah, corporate america....
