I owed taxes, yet I received an email saying "Your Intuit refund was processed"

Hi,

I'm confused by this email saying, "Refund confirmation. We processed your refund."

I'm a sole proprietor and I pay quarterly taxes, I ended up needing to pay more taxes in my 2019 returns, so I'm due a refund. I have not idea what this email is about, does anyone know what this is referencing?

An Intuit refund would be a refund for a software or product purchase through customer service.  Intuit doesn't process tax refunds, so it would have to be something related to a product purchase.

Did you reach out to customer service for a refund on a product recently?

Hi SusanY1

No I hadn't, I was surprised by the email.

Now I'm wondering if perhaps this is phishing email. It said my refund was $1203.53.  That just makes no sense.

I just noticed too that the email included an attachment at the bottom of the page. I hadn't noticed it until I scrolled down. It's an .xls file (MS Excel).

Thank you for your help, I think with your feedback and a second look at this email, it's probably just a phishing scam.  The sender's email address is [email address removed] which is why I took it more seriously.
