Did you mail your return or efile it? The IRS is currently not processing any mailed returns and hasn't been for some time. They are way behind processing efiled returns so it may be a long wait for a return not filed until 4/30.

Tax Refund

TurboTax gets no information about the status of your refund.
In normal times, the IRS says that most filers get their refunds within 21 days from the time their tax return is accepted.
Many returns are taking longer now since the IRS did not process returns for a while and there is now a big backlog of unprocessed returns.
The IRS is currently not processing any mailed returns and is not taking any phone calls.

If you efiled your return, have you confirmed that the return was submitted by TurboTax and accepted by the IRS?

If accepted, what does the IRS tracking web site say about the status of your refund?

I e-filed and that was the accepted date.  I owe so will not be receiving a refund.  I know this information is needed to be eligible for a stimulus payment

I filed my return on turotax and got confirmation on April 7.  Since then checked refund status on the IRS site 3-4 times.  Every time the answer was that it's "under process".  Finally on calling Irs they told me that they don't have my 2019 returns and I should enquire turbo tax for the snafu!!

If the return was ACCEPTED for processing  and the IRS site said it was being PROCESSED then the IRS has the return ... there is nothing that TT can help you with ... they cannot intercede on your behalf in any way.

As your return flows thru the processing maze the WMR? tool from time to time will not show the return and when you called the IRS person also got the same unknown progress note ... this is normal and common as the return moves between departments.   You may need to call a taxpayer advocate for assistance.

Only the IRS controls when and if a tax refund is Approved and Sent.

Call the IRS:  1-800-829-1040  hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday

When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.

So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info).  Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.

Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".

Then press 3 "for all other questions."

Then press 2 "for all other questions."

- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don’t enter anything.

- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Then press 2 and then 4 …

It should then transfer you to an agent.
