How long does it take to amend you’re return? Also, what is the cut off date?

1) Takes about a couple months to process an amended return (1040X) after you mail it in (Can't be e-filed).

2) You can amend a return any time After the previous one has been fully processed. You may not get a refund if it has been over three years since original due date.

A 1040X cannot be e-filed.  It must be printed and mailed.  It will take about 3-4 months for the IRS to process an amended return.  It is a good idea to use a mailing service that will track it, like UPS or certified mail, so you will know it was received.
