Federal Refund

Hello, this is going to be an odd question. But I'm looking for somebody from TurboTax to answer it. I filed my federal and state tax in February and received my state tax refund direct deposit into our bank account which we have used for the past 7 or 8 years. I've been waiting for the federal tax refund and have been tracking it with the where's my refund app. The tracking would always say that the IRS issued our refund on March 10th. Today when I checked the app it said that a check was mailed to us and returned to the irs. They had our old address. About 6 months ago we moved cross country. I have now updated my address and they said they will mail it to me within 4 to 6 weeks to our new address. My question is-  why did they mail us a check when we filled out all the information correctly to be direct deposited just like the past 7 years. We are very confused on why they would have mailed us a check instead of using direct deposit like always.?

Turbotax can't answer your question, only the IRS can, but good luck with that. Obviously, they had your old address on their records, If the IRS tries to Direct Deposit your refund and it gets sent back to them by the bank for some reason, then they will send you a check for your refund.

Sounds good. I contacted the IRS and I talked to two different agents that assured me the check would be mailed to my new address within a month or so. I guess my main question is still why did the bank reject it. I called the bank and they said they did not reject any payment for any reason. I was hoping TurboTax could let me know if I entered the information in wrong for my direct deposit which will be odd since the state taxes got deposited correctly
