When I filed my 2022 federal taxes (with Turbotax) I was not scheduled to receive a refund. However, this year (2024) the IRS sent me a letter asking me to confirm my identity, and a few weeks later I received a large refund. How can that be?
In addition, for the first time, the IRS did not accept last year's AGI when I attempted to file electronically... In all of the years that I have filed with Turbotax this has not happened to me. Any insights? I am beginning to wonder whether someone else has filed under my name...

I agree, sounds like another return has been filed using your personal information. You should contact the IRS to sort through this potential identity theft situation.
You may not know you’re a victim of identity theft until you’re notified by the IRS of a possible issue with your return.
