If you have an excessive scholarship, it will be taxable as wages. Are you speaking about TurboTax does not show the taxable amount on your tax return? Can you clarify what you mean by TurboTax not recognizing what you owe?
TurboTax recognizes that I have excessive scholarships, but for some reason isn't recognizing them as taxable this year and is instead insisting that I'm due for a refund. I'm wondering if it's because I can only enter my 1098T under "deductions and credits" rather than "income."
Yes, if the scholarships amounts are listed in Box 5 of the 1098T, then you enter them in under deductions and credits so that the program recognizes these are taxable scholarships.
