Early 2020 Return Accepted Before Feb 12th Opening?

Everything I have seen Tax season for 2020 opens Feb 12th 2021. However, I got a text last night (Feb 9th) that my return was accepted. I also see today (Feb 10th) "Where's My Refund" is showing accepted status!

So, 1st YAY ME!

2nd: what is up with that?

3rd: What would be the estimate for being "Approved" with this early acceptance and then likely direct deposit?

I also received notification today that my federal return was approved. I am not sure exactly what that will mean for us as far as when we will see the DD but I would love to hear from anyone else who is in the same boat! I come to these forums every year for the past 3 years. Guess its time to start year 4! Good Luck everyone!

February 22. Projected date for the IRS.gov Where's My Refund tool being updated for those claiming EITC and ACTC, also referred to as PATH Act returns.
First week of March. Tax refunds begin reaching those claiming EITC and ACTC (PATH Act returns) for those who file electronically with direct deposit and there are no issues with their tax returns.

No, just a straight simple filling, standard deductible as Head of Household. If there is anything I like with the tax changes over the last year or so is how simple filling is now and not having to keep up with other deductions I used to have to enter (itemize).

js WMR sucks. It’s was on second bar last year and I had already received my return. This year seems to be going the same pace as a sloth. Hold on y’all !! Good luck to us all

Mine was accepted on February 10th and fiancés was accepted on February 9th so could be part of test batches. It's not uncommon to be accepted early. This years start date is late for system reprogramming for the stimulus claims. IRS might have gotten everything hammered out and is now accepting small amounts of returns each day. I fall under Path Act and any one who falls under that should not have to wait 2 to 4 weeks to see an update on WMR like years past. IRS states Path Act returns have a projected update on WMR for February 22nd providing the return has no issues.

Well, got my DD this morning, just like the IRS transcript said I would. Funny thing - the normal "Where's My Refund?" Status (and TurboTax) only report "Return Received". A bit worthless the "Where's My Refund?" page IMO.

My return says approved on Turbo tax... but when I check the federal site it doesn’t even say approved.. it says pending... help!!! Last year I didn’t even receive my taxes. So I want to make sure I do this year 😭

As well does anyone know how long it can be to receive the federal taxes and Utah taxes?

@TreasureMartin I don't reside in Utah, but My IRS is still under Received Return, Turbo Tax says it's approved.

Just checked my online bank and I'm now showing that my refund is deposited (pending).

Mine too has been accepted as of 02/09 or 02/10, but no updates on WMR, has anyone with EITC received their refund yet?

I filed 2/1 and accepted on 2/11 and have not had an update on transcripts or WMR.

Facebook forum and igotmyrefund.com has a ton of people from 2/10 and 2/11 acceptance dates that have no updates on anything.

Some path act people with all credits have gotten there's though but its sporadic . I think this proves this year is a cluster mess and them delaying the irs start date to reprogram their system didn't help at all.

Funny thing is Irs twitter page took down the tweet about W,R being updated on 2/22. Proof they have no clue what's going on this year and have no control over their own system.

I just checked my transcript yesterday with a ddd of 3/1/21. Signed into my bank account today and had my return. Eic and child tax credit claimed. No movement on irs site.

It was accepted on February 12th. I checked the irs path and it says March 1st as of yesterday too. I know alot of people that have received theres. My fiances also says March 1st. Good luck everyone. Fingers 🤞
