maybe. there is no federal deduction for the tax payments or the interest. however, some states do allow some sort of credit or deduction based on federal income taxes paid during the tax year. what state do you file in if any? in such cases the entries would have to be done through the state return.
I live in Maryland. Looks like if I paid money in 2020 for a tax return that was audited in 2017.... I don't report that for 2020 taxes? It as only Federal 1040 audit. Thanks for any help!
Maryland does not allow a state tax deduction for federal tax payments or interest paid on federal tax balances.
As the earlier post states, there is no federal deduction for the tax payments or the interest.
