Amending

I received the first 2 stimulus checks pretty much right away when they started to distribute them. I have not received my 3rd one yet so I started to think and reviewed my tax return and noticed I mistakenly said that someone can claim me as a dependent when no one does. In all my other tax returns I never said someone can claim me.  So I amended my 2020 tax return and fixed it. Do I have any chance of getting this 3rd stimulus check?

Similar to 2020, if you do not receive the payment, you will be able to take a  refundable credit on your 2021 tax return.  I wouldn't count on see it anytime soon.  Amended returns are generally processed after the current filing season is finished.  You can track the progress of your amended return.  Click here for a link to the Where's my Amended Return.

amended returns are processed in the order received.

Once IRS notices that you are qualified for EIP3, you should get it.
