Amending: wages shown on W2 are $3425.20 yet the 1040-X that Turbo Tax produced says my adjusted gross income has gone up by $5138. How can this be correct?

AGI includes all the taxable income listed above Line 11.

That is more than just the amount on your W-2.

Hard to know without seeing your tax return.

However, if you report Social Security benefits, adding additional income will recompute the taxable portion of Social Security benefits.
