@VolvoGirl It's an old problem, so old thgreads are relevant. Trying to open old tax files. I was referring to this message...
TurboTax provides a free service called Tax-to-PDF that converts your old tax return to a PDF. It currently handles returns from 2004 through 2010. You send your tax return data file to the Tax-to-PDF service, and it sends back a PDF of your return in less than a minute. See the following links.

Turbo Tax hasn't had that converter for many many years. If you had a .taxyyyy file you need the Turbo Tax program installed to open it or use the taxprinter website I posted to convert a .tax file to pdf at
They might be expensive and it is probably not safe to email tax returns back and forth.
OR get a copy from the IRS -

And.....This is a new forum layout. Posts that have June 2019 dates are really much older posts from the old forum that got moved over. So they might be for prior years. When they migrated over all the dates got changed to June 2019.
@VolvoGirl Thank you. IRS only goes back so many years too. I'm trying to open 2005-2009 ttax documents that only open in respective year's software, which only opens on older computers of that vintage.
I'm wary of the tax to file service. Though $50 per return might be worth it, that is some sensitive data I'm sending to them!
Intuit actually had the tax-pdf functionality as recently as 2019. It's astounding that they don't support opening their own files.
@VolvoGirl I see what you're saying since many of the posts have a 6/7/19 date. So no way to know when the response was actually posted.
