I filed e-filed my state and federal  taxes on 1/15/25 and it went into pending status on 1/17/25. It’s been 12 days after e-file is that normal to still be in pending status?

Yes.   The IRS has accepted a few early "test batch" returns but millions of others are waiting on servers for this week when the IRS will start on them.

It is not unusual for your return to stay in pending status for several days sometimes longer depending on the back log of returns filed and time it takes for the IRS to process them. Keep checking the IRS Where’s My Refund? site for updates. The tool is updated daily (usually in the overnight hours) so you don’t need to check more often. Please see the TurboTax FAQ What does "Pending" mean? for additional information.

The IRS just started accepting 2024 federal tax returns today, January 27, 2025.  It may take several days before the IRS either accepts or rejects your tax return as they have a backlog of millions of tax returns.
