Paper check or direct deposit?
I have to mail in a paper return, I am curious if I will still be able to receive my refund via direct deposit or will it default to paper check?
If you selected direct deposit in Step 2 of the File section then your tax refund will be direct deposited by the IRS even when printing and mailing the return to the IRS.
Look at your Form 1040 Line 20. Your bank routing and account number will be shown if you selected direct deposit.
