owe for Recovery rebate error

Notice form IRS for $314 for Recovery rebate error. I got the second stimulus payment of $600 nothing for my child. First one was $1200. Some how the IRS says I owe $314 Dollars for recovery rebate. I didn't calculate this turbo tax did?

My return was accepted on 2/12/21 and I paid over $2000. I made less this year than last and had to pay more in Taxes.  Now the IRS sends me a notice i owe another $314 for this recovery rebate error.  Also on the turbo tax website it is saying I still owe $1391.00 Why is that????

The TurboTax website simply shows your tax return information. There is no way for TurboTax to know what happened between you and the IRS with payments. However, $1391 is less than $2,000. Did you have unemployment that may have changed your numbers since you filed?

In addition, you should be receiving the stimulus for your child that was not received. The letter you received has a number you can call to get answers.

Please see I received a letter from the IRS and the IRS website for notices, click here.

owe for Recovery rebate error

Hi Amy Thank you  for your response.  I did not receive any unemployment benefits at all in the last 10 years.  The IRS has not sent me a letter saying I owe $1391, its just on Turbo tax. They did send me that letter that I owe $314 which I don't understand but I will have to call them and stay calm because I really hate the IRS. As a single parent and my son is actually one of the few that made it through Covid and going to ASU and they taxed me more when I made less. it is utterly ridiculous. Thanks for your assistance I appreciate you.

Doug
