I e-filed with TT desktop early this year (tax year: 2022) because I was getting a refund. I filed and then received refund direct deposits from both IRS and NC. After this and before April 18th, I got a K-1 and realized I had under-paid my taxes, so I used TT to amend my return and e-filed the amended return (both IRS and NC, providing ACH access to my bank account) on April 16th. TT indicates that the e-filing was "Accepted" by both agencies. However, the IRS website and the "Where's my amend return?" service has no record of my amended return. It says it can take up to 3 weeks, but it has now been almost 7 weeks since I e-filed. Nothing on NC website either, that I can find. Do I need to do something to try to track down these amended returns? Or just continue to wait? If I should do something, what???
Thanks!

Hello,
First and foremost, it is important to realize that amendments generally take a very long time to process. They can sometimes take longer than 16 weeks. Based on the information you provided, I see two options. The first option is to continue waiting and checking the status as you have been doing. The second option is opting to give both the IRS and NC a phone call and speak to a live agent who can check on the realtime status of the return.
For Individual returns filed with the IRS, you can call 800-829-1040. There is currently a trick to get to a live human being and get passed the automated system.
1. Select English
2. From the automated menu, select Option for Billing and Payments (Currently option 2)
3. After Billing and Payments, let the automated menu replay a few times but don't select anything.
4. They will transfer you to a live agent after a few replays.
As for NC, you can refer to the following page for applicable phone numbers:

Best regards!
