Need to add a 1095-A to a 2018 tax return. What is the process? Do I have to file an amended return.

If you received a 0012C notice from the IRS for tax year 2018 requesting a Form 1095-A and a Form 8962 then follow this procedure using the TurboTax desktop editions for tax year 2018.

Start the TurboTax 2018 desktop edition and continue the 2018 tax return -

1. Select the Federal Taxes tab
2. Select the Health Insurance tab.
3. Answer the questions about your health insurance which includes entering your 1095-A.
4. Select the File tab
5. Choose Print/Save for Your Records.
6. Select Save a PDF
7. Select Specific Forms.
8. Select Form 8962 and Form 1040 and print them.
9. Send the following to the IRS address or FAX number given in your IRS letter:

Form 8962, Premium Tax Credit

Copy of your Form 1095-A, Health Insurance Marketplace Statement

A copy of the IRS letter that you received.

Only if the refund or owed amount has changed: Also include your Form 1040

Did you receive an IRS notice 012C?  If so, read the instructions for 2018 desktop edition in the above answer.
