If you filed before the $10,200 unemployment income exclusion went into effect, the IRS began issuing refunds for corrections of taxed unemployment income on May 14. It will be an ongoing process that may last throughout the summer. How soon a filer can expect it depends on how complex one's situation is. The IRS says:
"The first phase of adjustments is being made for single taxpayers who had the simplest tax returns, such as those filed by taxpayers who did not claim children or any refundable tax credits."
"The next phase will include the more complex tax returns which the IRS anticipates will take through the end of summer to review and correct."
