Welllll..I ended up getting a tax advocate, IRS sent me a letter about 2 weeks after DD, saying I needed to prove my kids, filing status, and proof of address. I submitted everything thru the advocate and got my money in July. It was a lengthy wait but I did get all of it. And this year I wasn’t reviewed.
what was your outcome?
I have an question im new I never had my taxes to be held I filed janurary 27 here it is march 4 I called irs they ask have I received an letter I said no well they told me starting march 9 my 45 days begin like they didn't say nothing was wrong I never had this happen before someone please explain
@Tisha2014 This is random selection and computer screening. During a 45 day review, the IRS is generally examining any number of items reported on your return typically using their own records - such as W-2 information, dependents listed, etc. This does not necessarily indicate a problem with any information on your return. A certain number of these types of reviews are done at random.
If the IRS needs additional information from you, they will request it in writing. These requests are always by mail - please do not respond to any e-mail requests for information, as these will not be from the IRS.
Unless you receive a request from the IRS for more information, there isn't anything that you need to do during this time period.

Hello, I am wondering if you got your taxes or not. And how long it took? Cause I am being told the same thing and I have been filing with turbo taxes for 6 years and haven’t changed anything on mine taxes either. When I called the IRS told me they can’t tell me nothing that I should be receiving a letter which I haven’t received yet! So if you could plz reply back to me that would be much appreciated. Thank you and have a wonderful day.
no I havnt received my taxes I called the IRS I wont to say Monday an they asked have I got a letter in the mail I said no so they said my 45 days will begin march 9th which is Monday an wait to receive an letter in mail between them days if I havnt received one call back after the 45 days but I am going to call the people who did my taxes tomorrow an see if they can call an maybe they will tell me more but I will keep you posted if I do but I filed end of janurary an here it is march so all I can do is keep hoping I will receive them in between the 45 days but the comments I have read people were in the same situation an they received them befrore there 60 days were up an gave me an lil hope
Yea my husbands employers bookkeeper said it happen to her cause she always filed the same every year cause she was married until last year she filed married but separate. So she went under a review and she got a letter then 2 weeks later she got her taxes.I just it depends on what they a review on our taxes like they making sure my husband isn’t paying double taxes cause they put the wrong social security number on the first W2 and then they send it to the irs and then I seen they had it wrong so they had to go back and corrected it and make a new one. So now it is showing 2 W2s with my husbands name on it. Like OMG really you can see it’s a mistake. But just so you know The IRS has to pay you a % for holding your taxes if everything was right. That’s what they told me.
I am going through the same siduation. My tax return is under review. I filed feb 17,2020. Its now March 12, 2020. And nothing but a letter saying u will be waiting 60 more days before u hear any thing from the irs. They say there just finding out if there were any errors made, or if they need to ajust something. I did my own taxes electronically through turbotax claimed my son thats it. It seems as though the irs wont explain to me what the real problem is. They would just say ur under review that all i get out of them very frustrating. So just waiting on the next letter from them i guess so i can know what i need to do next.
update I have received my letter in mail which was the day my 45 days started so know im just waiting on them to do there part which is relieve my taxes they said on letter which can take up to 60 days so im just waiting
U ever figure out what it was?
Have you received anything yet
Yes I have received my taxes as of yesterday you just have to be patient it didn't take 60 days
Same here!! Only i was told March 5th the letter had been mailed a week and a half ago. Called back was told it was being mailed out on March 16th. So they took 45 days to tell me they were reviewing and I have to wait an additional 60?!?! Also single mom and used Turbo Tax. Now with COVID-19 stimulus checks being rushed out..how much longer will my refund take? I don't see how they can verify income if my place of employment shut down due to the virus. Pissed and Stressed
I was told I won't be getting mine untill August 6 the I filed on may 15th
It depends.
The current situation with Covid-19 has resulted in delays with the IRS processing and reviewing returns as well.
