My refund was short $2,800

I filed my taxes online on February 8th. I didn’t receive my refund until March 9th, and that’s when i noticed my refund was short $2,800. I have spent all week trying to get a hold of someone to give me an explanation as to why I wouldn’t have received the full amount I was told I’d receive. I’ve tried contacting the IRS, Turbotax but still no answers.

It appears that the IRS has corrected your refund for the Recovery Rebate credit as $2,800 represents the recovery rebate for 2 people. You may have received the third stimulus in 2021 and wrongly claimed the Recovery rebate credit.

You can expect a letter explaining the reason they have corrected your refund.

Wait for that letter. DO NOT file an amended return.
