Missing 2020 baby’s stimulus check

I filed my taxes yesterday, and today I realized that the TurboTax software never mentioned anything about stimulus money for my baby born in 2020. I looked at like 30 of form 1040 and it is blank. This should have been automatically calculated by entering her as a dependent who lived with me all year long and did not pay for expenses, correct? How do I go about getting her stimulus money now that I have filed?

It depends.  

The payments were an advance credit for 2020.  2018 or 2019 information was used in sending out the payments since 2020 tax returns had not been filed at the point the stimulus payments were sent out.  They are being reconciled when you do your 2020 return.  In some cases, people may have been given a stimulus payment based on their 2019 dependents that did not qualify based on their 2020 dependents, and vice versa. 

In your particular case, did you have additional dependents listed on a previous return whom you are not claiming in 2020? 

The credit is not based on social security number, but on a count.  For instance, if you received a stimulus payment for yourself and 1 dependent based on your 2019 return and now that you are filing your 2020 return, if you only have 1 dependent listed (your new baby) the credit is going to calculate as received in full.

Thank you for the reply. The only change to my dependents is that I am adding a baby born in 2020. I received both stimulus payments promptly, but the new baby's stimulus was not added to my return.

The IRS announced that it will fix stimulus mistakes. Wait for your refund. If the refund does not include your baby's stimulus, file an amended return. If your return is rejected for some reason, you can fix the Recovery Rebate Credit before re-filing.

The IRS says: If you make a mistake on the Line 30 amount, the IRS will calculate the correct amount of the Recovery Rebate Credit, make the correction to your tax return and continue processing your return. If a correction is needed, there may be a slight delay in processing your return and the IRS will send you a notice explaining any change made.
