You cannot use online software to prepare any sort of 2017 return.  Is that what you are asking to do?

The online software can only be used for 2018.

A return for 2017 has to be printed, signed and mailed.  It cannot be e-filed.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS and/or your state received the return.

The other way you could do your 2017 state return is to prepare it by hand.  Get your 2017 federal return in front of you, and then get the state's 2017 forms to prepare.
