ITIN rescind

Has anybody filed an itin rescind this year and taxes at the same time in their local office? anybody heard back from them? we filed ours on 02/03/22 in person but still have not heard back regarding ITIN. We created an account with the IRS for my husband and it still doesn't show his earnings. It has been more than 12 weeks now, I was just wondering if anybody knows how long they usually take to do this rescind?

Do you mean ITIN received?  Rescind means it was issued, and then taken back.

The 2021 income usually will not be available on the IRS transcript  site until the SS administration releases them and the IRS updates their system ... this usually happens by June( or later)  so looking now will probably  show you nothing.

Yes. I am cognizant of what rescind means and that is what I meant. When my husband received his ssn last year, I made a mistake of not filing a rescind of itin so that they can merge his records. I found out the hard way this year when I tried to file our 2021 taxes electronically and it got rejected. I had 2 choices, either file by paper with the rescind letter, or file electronically with his itin. I chose to file by paper so that we could get the stimulus. That was back on 02/03 and still have not heard back from irs. I know the processing takes 8-12 weeks but it has been more than that so I was just wondering if anybody here had any experience with this and how long it took for irs to respond

Thank you, I did call the irs and they told me his rescind request is still processing. Thank you for the info!

Processing of Paper returns are woefully backed up again this year  so don't expect anything in less than 4 to 6 months or much longer.
