It says I owe the state money, I know that’s not the case I think I may have just filed things wrong but I don’t know how to go back and fix it

I live in Minnesota and have a work study position at my University. Naturally not as much taxes are taken out of my job as non work study positions since its technically my aid

Sounds like you'll just need to go back to the beginning and review step by step until you find your mistake.  That's what I would do.
