Is anyone’s return still pending after 48 hours?

The IRS officially opens the season for processing of returns on Monday, January 26.  Most people who filed early have their returns still residing on TurboTax servers in pending status, waiting for the IRS to retrieve them when they open.  A few people each year are pulled early by the IRS for testing purposes.   While you "might" hear something over the weekend, it will likely be on Monday or within a couple days after that to know if your return was accepted or rejected.  The IRS doesn't necessarily pull the entire backlog of pending returns on the first day that they open.
