I e-filed a simple, standard deduction Form 1040 on Feb. 18, 2019. For some odd reason, IRS sent me a Notice asking for my Estimated Tax Payment info for 2019. There were none! There weren’t any for 2018 either. Both years, I paid bi-weekly via my employer withholding taxes from my paycheck. When Coronavirus hit, I lost my job, currently have no income, and I’m having trouble finding work because no one’s hiring during the uncertainty of this crisis. IRS has suspended ALL individual taxpayer service and my $1,262 refund is stuck in limbo. My Congressman couldn’t get IRS to release it. IRS denied my request to “expedite” due to financial hardship because I said I need it to pay bills to AVOID losing my car and MISSING other payments due. IRS said it could only help if I had ALREADY lost my car or had bill collectors at my heels. A friend in another state has a similar situation and their Congressman said IRS is unlikely to complete processing the 2019 return and issue the 2019 refund till they process the 2020 return! And, BECAUSE my 2019 return hasn’t been processed, I cannot get the Stimulus Check I qualify for ($1,200), which also would help keep me solvent while seeking work! WHAT CAN I DO TO GET MY MONEY BACK *NOW?*

Are the Taxpayer Advocacy Services operating during the IRS Local Offices’ nationwide shutdown? They would be able to do what my Congressman couldn’t do?
Some are available. It is worth a try.
