IPPin

My return that I e-filed were rejected and requested that I get an IPPIN number. The IPPIN is 6 numbers long and Turbo Tax only will accept 5 numbers in place of the previous pin number box or the 2021 AGI box, The newly issued IPPIN which is required will not work in Turbo Tax. Unless you can help me find a better place to transfer the IPPIN number to the IRS. Also If I have to file my taxes by mail, does Intuit reimburse the money I paid them to e-file my taxes?

Thanks

No, TurboTax does not reimburse you if you mail your return instead of e-filing it.  The fee is for using the software to do all of the calculations for you -- not for e-filing.  The fee is the same whether you e-file or mail it in an envelope.

As for the 6 digit PIN----go to Federal>Other Tax Situations>Other Return Info>Identity Protection PIN to enter the 6 digit pin

Thanks for helping me find where to place the IPPIN, but if you have 2 states to file a return to, you owe an extra $25 to e-file to that second state so yes you have extra costs to e-file versus mailing in your returns.

@Jim2620 If you are using the CD/download there is always--always--always---an extra fee to e-file a state return.  You can avoid that fee by printing and mailing the state returns instead of e-filing them.  And do not fall into the trap of choosing to pay those fees from your federal refund, or you will also pay an extra $39 for "refund processing."
