I received a letter stating that I am under a 60 day review over a month ago, I called IRS and they said I don't need to do anything. Why is it taking so long and is anyone else stuck like me?

Oh wow, that's awful. I called them today and because of my past experiences, decided to let them know I was going to record the call. They immediately hung up on me! I contacted my Senator and am now going thru that process.

Yes, many, many people are in the same situation.

The IRS is taking a closer look at so many returns this year. However, they are still understaffed, so refunds have been delayed by months.

You are not alone. This is happening across the country, regardless of the tax prep software or the credits claimed. It is happening to taxpayers at all income levels. It is even happening to senior TurboTax employees.

I know you are frustrated, but these measures are designed to protect you and all tax payers from tax identity fraud.

If it says "still processing" instead of "being processed," then they may have flagged you for verification of your identity. They are failing to send letters. Go thru the Tax Advocacy link on the main page of the IRS website, ask to speak to live person at IRS and they should transfer you.
