If I e-filed my amended 2023 taxes but it says I will get a paper check? Why I received my original 2023 via direct deposit?

Can I contact IRS and have them direct deposit to same account info they have on file?

Go to this IRS website for tax refund FAQ's - https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions

I requested a direct deposit refund. Why are you mailing it to me as a paper check? (updated May 16, 2023)

There are several reasons:

  • We can only deposit refunds electronically into accounts in your own name, your spouse's name or in a joint account.
  • A financial institution may reject a direct deposit.
  • We can't deposit more than three electronic refunds into a single financial account.

There is another reason you might be getting a check:  you did not enter the direct deposit bank information on your amended return.

Direct deposit of refund is a recent addition to Form 1040-X.

TY, no I had filled out DD 411 & received prior refunds this way. However I now see that the routing 411 is X'd out on my amended but it wasn't on the worksheets??
