ID.me issue

Since last year I used different Tax Return software, and unfortunately don't have a PDF record of it, TurboTax asked me to establish an ID.me to be able to access my 2021 return from IRS itself in order to be able to e-file.

The problem is that on the IRS website, I was asked for some kind of a number, after choosing which record I want a copy of, without which I couldn't go any further, dead end, with no explanation.

I decided to file by mail, instead, but the experience frustrated me to no end.

If somebody can shed some light on this issue I would appreciate it a lot.

Yes, you can get a copy of your tax transcript from the IRS website. Order your transcript here at the IRS or by calling them toll-free at 1-800-908-9946.

No, it didn't help me. The link you supplied takes me to the same place where I have ID.me problem described earlier.

I'm not happy with  TurbTax. For some reason, that I don't remember now, I was done with TT last year and out of frustration used FreeTaxUSA. This year I forgot about this fact and used TT and paid for TTDelux but had a problem with e-filing.

I decided to take my losses, quit TT, and used FreeTaxUSA again. It was a very smooth and easy process. Done with  TT for good!
