I would like to know why it's taking an additional 8 weeks for my state refund?

Only your state can answer that question.   Once the return is accepted by the tax agency, they are the only ones that can give you information about it.

If you happen to be in California...state refunds are delayed sometimes for no apparent reason....even when you call, they cant tell you why its delayed.
