I thought I was done with my taxes, and printed both to be mailed. Now I find an error that needs to be corrected on both state and federal. I need to correct them.

How can I get my unsent forms back from the system to add some income?  Neither state or federal has been finished.

If you have not e-filed or mailed the returns you can still make changes.  In order to get back into the program to change things---click on Add a State.  That trick will allow you back in to make changes --you do not really have to add a state.   Make your changes and then go ahead and e-file or print the corrected copies for filing by mail.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
