I did not recognize the HSA account as something I had applied for when it popped up on my taxes and so I thought the employer had made a mistake and skipped over it. After I submitted my taxes, I got a response from my employer that yes I had an HSA account and they had put $1,500 towards it. I was advised that I could pay any of my medical bills from 2018. I went ahead and paid the outstanding bills from 2018 and now I have a balance of about $11.00. What do I do to fix this with the IRS? Do I need to file an adjustment? Please help, thanks

Open your return and enter your HSA amount shown in Box 12 on your W-2. You could use FORMS mode to do this directly on the W-2 Worksheet.
If it makes a difference in your Refund, then you should Amend your Return.
You don't have to spend the total amount in your HSA account each year.
