I sent my federal return on April 15. The USPS tracking number shows that the return has not been delivered and is lost somewhere. Do I send another copy in or wait ?

Ask the post office first ... see if they can find it.

I have had the post office put an inquiry in. So far nothing has been found.

Well ... you can mail another return ... and the first one to arrive will be processed and the second will be rejected.

Make sure you are sending it to the correct address ... pick a state then pick a form...

include the PO receipt (copy) to prove that the first return was timely filed.
