I realized after filing my return I need to change my status and file an amended return however the IRS audited by original. How do I file an amended return?

Do I change my amended return to match the adjustments made by the IRS or file my original with the changes I expect?

Please refer to heading for Col A where it states:

"reported" (by you) "or as previously adjusted" (by the IRS, or by you if you are filing an amendment for the second time).

Before you start the amending process, you change your original return in TurboTax to match the IRS adjustments. You do not file the adjusted original return. Then you amend the adjusted return and file the amended return (Form 1040-X).
