I noticed that on my return i spelled my sons last name ramoa instead of ramos

Well the IRS only looks at the first 4 letters of the last name so that should pass OK ... but if it is rejected then you can make the correction and resubmit the return.

NO ... a rejected return is corrected and resubmitted ... it is NOT amended.
