I didn’t but I made sure to put the exact amount I got.
You can probably find your relevant information on the IRS website and, if so, you won’t need to wait for Letter 6419.
If you received Advance Child Tax Credit payments in 2021 but haven’t received an IRS Letter 6419, you can use the IRS’ Child Tax Credit Update Portal to verify your total Advance Child Tax Credit payments.
If you don’t already have an account, you’ll be asked to create one.
My wife received her letter, and I did not.
I remember talking to her about how weird that the letter was addressed to her and not both of us.
Now when the credit was announced I also remember registering an ID.me account with the IRS in order to not accept the early payments which would have only applied to my side of the joint tax return not both of ours which is frustrating but understandable. Sadly, my wife never made the effort to cancel future early payments so I left it alone and just accepted we would need to repay them as part of the 2021 tax return. I did not want there to be confusion with me rejecting early payment and my spouse getting it deposited in our account.
So I am wondering if my wife received her 6419 letter, since she did not attempt to register an ID.me account and I did not get the letter because I made an irs.gov account via the ID.me process? Just a thought as I still have yet to receive a paper letter (6419) from the IRS.
That being said I used the ID.me login to get to the 2021 Advance Child Tax Credit Payments Information page via the Tax Records tab on the irs.gov website; sure enough, it showed the exact same amount tied to me that my wife also received on her 6419-paper letter. We then reconciled against our bank account and the numbers matched exactly.
All should be good.
Just wanted to share my thoughts on not receiving a letter but my spouse did receive one.
