I moved to NM in 8/18, but did not find work until 2/19. Why do i need to file a NM state return? Turbo Tax charged me for a filing an empty NM State Return for 2018?!

TurboTax generated a part-year resident return for New Mexico because you indicated that you lived in New Mexico for part of the year.  Part-year and nonresidents must file a New Mexico return:

1) If required to file a federal return and

2) If they have any New Mexico-source income.
